“Sue Me” - Sabrina Carpenter

In May of 2026 when I lost my job, I decided to book a jet2 holiday and fled to Milan, Italy, in an effort to completely reset and rebrand.

Rebrand I did. You see, I’d left a toxic relationship in December of 2024 and while I’d originally initiated a period of no contact with my ex-abuser, I eventually reached out to try and make peaceful amends. I wanted to clarify a few things:

  1. That he’d deleted the content he’d recorded of me on his Meta Rayban Sunglasses without my consent.

  2. To understand who and where he sent that content to (again, without my consent.)

  3. To make peaceful amends. I genuinely wanted to rectify any remaining conflict because I thought I’d loved this person for 6 years, and I thought he’d loved me at once too.

I’ll be 30 in November; I’ve spent my life chained behind the shadows of other people. I tried to rectify the situation peacefully, I really did. I was met with silence, I was stonewalled, and the people closest to my abuser continued to enable his abusive behavior. More on that later.

When I landed in Milan, a hidden part of my soul was unlocked - the woman I’d always aspired to be finally came front and center, and I was reminded by the tourists and locals all around that I was just as small and as big as I wanted to be in this world.

I’ve spent my entire life, up to this point, entirely fearful of being disliked. I decided enough was enough, and I went public.

I started to write (on this blog, and across my ecosystem of social media profiles) about the abuse I’d endured and survived. Not just by him, but by my mother, by the organization I worked for, and by countless others who have taken advantage of my kindness, mistaking that kindness for weakness.

What’s occurred in the aftermath of finding and using my voice is nothing short of traumatic. I am actively being sued by my abuser for “defemation” and $250,000 dollars, despite the fact that everything I say is true.

I am bold, I am strong, I am kind. These things are all true, but I made a promise to myself in Milan: I would no longer be pushed around by people with nefarious intent. I would no longer be pushed around by people who never had my best interest in mind to begin with.

Why would someone that abused me for 4 years need $250,000 dollars from me? How can you put a cost on defamation, before a defamation suit is up? Why would his family be SO sure that I’m being defamatory, despite the fact that I have evidence and plenty of therapy bills and recorded sessions to back up my claims of abuse?

I’m not quite sure, but one thing is sure: They’re on a mission to discredit the power of my voice, and I won’t let them.

I’ll use this blog as a space to process my trauma, to heal, and to share my survival tips and wins as I move forward. I hope you find some peace in knowing: this is a safe space. If you’re trying to escape your own abuse, or have escaped, I hope you know how proud I am of you. We’re in this together, and I am here for you.

Signed,

I’m Healing - Let me Heal.
